AS9100 Audit Perfection!

Applied Aerospace Structures Corp. successfully passed another AS9100 audit with an assessment score of 100% and ZERO findings! AASC's AS9100 certificate is valid through November 2012.
Congratulations to all AASC employees for our success, and thanks to those who prepared and supported this audit.
AASC's next audit will be in April 2011 and will be towards certification to AS9100, Rev C.
Cygnus Primary Structure Static Load Test Completion

Applied Aerospace Structures Corporation (AASC) successfully completed static load testing on the Cygnus Primary Structure for Orbital. The test program applied loads to the structure to simulate the forces that it will experience during an Antares launch while carrying a fully loaded Pressurized Cargo Module on top. For the load case that simulated the maximum axial acceleration of the rocket, almost 90,000 lb were applied to the cargo module interface ring, which is equivalent to supporting a dry Boeing 737 on top of the structure. Other load cases applied about 35,000 lb to the sides of the structure. The structure performed well during the test and is now at Orbital for integration and test.
D6-51991 DPD/MBD Approval!

Applied Aerospace Structures Corp. successfully passed the Boeing certification process and gained approval to process digital product and model based definition per Boeing's D6-51991 specification.
NADCAP Composites Audit Success!

Applied Aerospace Structures Corp. successfully completed their annual (and 4th) NADCAP Composites audit. The audit took place from June 8th through June 11th and focused on Prepreg, Adhesive Bonding, Core Processing and Metal Bonding processes.
NADCAP Chemical Processing Audit Success!

Applied Aerospace Structures Corp. successfully passed their annual NADCAP audit for chemical processing. The audit took place over a 4-day period and was focused on AASC's phosphoric acid anodizing and FPL etch processing line.
BAC 5793 Approval!

Applied Aerospace Structures Corp. successfully passed qualification and gained approval to process parts to Boeing's BAC 5793 specification. This process is for the Application of Corrosion Resistant Finish for Integral Fuel Tanks.
