Fuel Tanks Allow Boeing 777-200LR to Break World Record

777-200LR Undergoing First Article Inspection

On November 10, 2005 a Boeing 777-200LR broke the world record for the longest nonstop flight of a commercial jet. This long range aircraft has a very distinctive feature that allows it accomplish such feats: the large fuel tanks it carries onboard. AASC is proud to have fabricated the fuel tank panels for this effort.

AASC worked closely with our customers, Marshall Aerospace, to develop panels for the 777-200LR that are complete with predetermined holes so that panels can be shipped flat and easily mated with no drilling required at assembly. Marshall is the prime on design and manufacturing of the tanks.

AASC has 20 years of fabrication experience for a variety of aircraft fuel tank structures for military and commercial applications in addition to the 777-200LR tanks, which include permanent, auxiliary and cargo hold tank systems.
