The Antares Launch Vehicle was successfully launched on July 13, 2014 from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in eastern Virginia, carrying the Cygnus Spacecraft on its second operational mission bound for the International Space Station. This flight is designated the Orbital-2, or Orb-2 mission.

Applied Aerospace Structures Corporation (AASC) is proud to support Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) in the manufacturing of solar array substrates for NASAís CYGNSS (Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System) program. AASC will supply SNC a quantity of 64 panels constructed of advanced M55J carbon fiber, aluminum honeycomb core and other space qualified materials in support of SNCís subcontract to Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), The prime contractor for CYGNSS.

Successful Launch of the Global Precipitation Measurement Core Observatory Aboard the H-IIA Rocket

The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Core Observatory successfully launched on February 27, 2014 at 1:37 p.m. (EST) from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. The GPM, built by Goddard, was launched on an H-IIA rocket provided by JAXA. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. managed the launch.
