AASC Teams with Marshall Aerospace on the P-8A Fuel Tanks
05/09/2006
AASC has signed a long-term agreement with Marshall Aerospace to supply auxiliary fuel tanks for the P-8A Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft. While Marshall will be solely responsible for the design and final assembly of the tanks, AASC will provide concurrent engineering support (design-for-manufacturability input) and fabrication of all the blank fuel tank panels. The P-8A, a 737-800 derivative aircraft, is being built by Boeing for the U.S. Navy. It will replace the P-3C aircraft for long range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The U.S. Navy plans to purchase 108 planes, with a first flight occurring in 2009. Each aircraft will have six fuel tanks onboard, which means a minimum of 648 tanks over the next 14 years for AASC. After a very successful relationship with Marshall Aerospace on the fabrication of the 777-200LR fuel tanks, AASC was honored to be chosen as the supplier to Marshall for fabrication of the auxiliary tanks for the P-8A aircraft as well. AASC looks forward to working with the UK based company on many more endeavors.
