Senior Accountant

SUMMARY/PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing high-level financial analysis, overseeing complex accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to support decision-making across various financial functions. Working closely with finance leadership, the Senior Accountant will contribute to month-end close, audit support, and financial reporting activities, helping to ensure accurate and timely financial information.  The Senior Accountant will also oversee day to day transactions to ensure accurate and timely processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include (but are NOT limited to) the following:

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Analyze results and trends, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Month-End Close: Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Ensure all entries are completed accurately and on time.
  • Reconciliations: Conduct complex reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Audit Preparation & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, maintaining organized documentation, and collaborating with auditors to address inquiries.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working with various departments to align financial projections with company objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, contributing to enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight: Provide oversight for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and resolution of issues.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS CONTINUED:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in ERP systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in POC accounting and government accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standards, and software systems, including ERP systems. – Visibility a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in a private company, multi-site, 500+ employees
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively address issues.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in financial processes. Proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work onsite at our Stockton location consistent with our 9/80 work week schedule
  • Workspace is indoors in a temperature controlled, generally quiet office building. There may be occasional sounds from equipment or work activity on the manufacturing production floor nearby.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform desk-based computer tasks
  • There may be occasional lifting of under 25lbs.

The salary range for this role is $75,000 – $110,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this open role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
