The Cost Accountant at Applied Aerospace Structures Corp (AASC) will apply cost accounting principles to conduct in-depth studies, offering detailed cost data beyond the general accounting system’s scope. This role involves analyzing costing information within the accounting system to ensure accurate financial insights that support manufacturing and operational processes. Responsibilities:
- Plan, study and collect data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Analyzes changes in product design raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs and drivers of margin impacts.
- Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing month to month/quarter to quarter and year over year analysis for product lines.
- Analyzes projects costs, estimates and budgets.
- Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors, affective prices, and profitability of products or services.
- Assists in accounting closing and preparation of financial statements each month.
- Assist in audits including but not limited to DCMA, customer proposal pre and post awards and annual financial audit.
- Assist in preparing billings for cost type contracts.
- Maintain Fixed Assets schedules.
- Review daily transactions, including part maintenance, kitting transactions, production receipts etc.
- Prepare OH, G&A, and FCCM rates.
- Prepare provisional billing rates.
- Prepare Incurred Cost Proposal.
- Roll Labor rates for forward bidding rates.
- Maintain MRP / Costing Integrity in ERP System and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or a related area
- 5+ years of experience in accounting role
- FAR/DFAR knowledge, as it pertains to costing
- CAS understanding and procedures
- Understanding of project and/or MRP accounting concepts
- General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles
- Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment
- Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
- Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality

The salary range for this role is $75,000 – $90,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this open role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
